Ho Math Chess™ Makes math learning fun.
Math and Chess was coined by Mr. Frank Ho. In 1995, Frank Ho started a learning centre called Vancouver Ho Math Chess™ learning Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was a computer consultant with a master's degree in statistics and now a BC certified math teacher.
Frank did not know how to play international chess at all but wanted to teach his son Andrew chess, who at that time was five years old. Andrew was taught to play chess by his father using chess books, computer software, and chess magazines. This mission resulted in Andrew becoming a youngest Canadian chess master at age of 12 and Frank's creation of over 40 math, chess, and puzzles related workbooks. Three of the workbooks could be checked out from the Vancouver Public Library. Frank also has presented math papers at the math conferences (Click Ho Math Chess Articles).
How did it all start? In 1995, Frank realized there is a strong correlation between math and chess but no commerical products were on the market that allowed youngster to work on math and chess combined questions. Frank didn't sit around and wait for someone else to create this product. He took the initiative and created the world's first integrated math and chess workbook for elementary students.
Beware of copycats who use similar names to Ho Math Chess with no integrated math, chess, and puzles curriculum and workbooks.
All Ho Math Chess integrated workbooks are copyrighted and are proprietary properties; they are sold only through Ho Math Chess franchisees.
Ho Math Chess™ Vancouver (Kerrisdale location) was founded in 1995 by a Canadian certified teacher Frank Ho with a handful of students. In 2004, Frank started to franchise the global brand name Ho Math Chess. Today Ho Math Chess is the world leader in integrated math chess and puzzles teaching. Chess and puzzles are excellent education tools for teaching math in enhancing problem-solving ability and in improving children’s brainpower. Frank and Amanda created the world's first math and chess integrated workbook for elementary students and this product has become the flagship product of Ho Math and Chess. Employing a teaching philosophy and vision with chess as a teaching tool, Ho Math Chess gets children interested in learning math. How are chess and math related? Ho Math Chess has been embarking on this intriguing quest since 1995 and as a result, created integrated world's first commercially available math and chess workbooks. The most surprising finding was that some math concepts used in playing chess are not taught during the first few years of schooling (Visit www.mathandchess.com for free articles: Comparing BC math curriculum and chess for details).
Ho Math Chess™ is the pioneer and world leader in integrating math and chess teaching, with in-depth research and worldwide franchisees to serve you.
Its unique teaching method integrates math and chess in such a way that students learn to visualize and analyze integrated math and chess problems. The analyzed information is then converted into meaningful numerical values.
These integrated workbooks have been tested and proven to improve visualization, spatial relationships and critical thinking skills, in addition to fundamental computational skills. Published research papers written by Frank Ho can be found at www.mathandchess.com.
The Ho Math Chess™ program is approved by the USA Illinois state of Education Board as a Supplemental Education Program.
